This year's gathering of my former classmates ( class of 1959 ) was held at a posh hotel, the Shangrila, in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

Unfortunately not all the girls residing in KL could make it this year, so it was a very small group. However, Kwan Thye brought along two of her sisters, who were our seniors, along to the lunch and it was good to meet them again after a lapse of many, many years.

The lunch was at the Lemon Garden which had an elaborate buffet spread and the restaurant was packed to the brim so much so that it was difficult going to the various food stations to get the food. The sea food station was the most popular where crabs, prawns, clams, scallops and oysters were snatched up as soon as they were brought out. The refills were generous.
My favorites! Oysters!!
Because it was buffet style we couldn't do the traditional "Loh Hei" ( tossing of the raw fish salad for prosperity). Nevertheless, we all enjoyed it.
It was difficult not to stuff yourself when there was so much food and one could have as many helpings as one liked.
We've all grown another year older. That's why these gatherings are so precious. All of us are now in our seventies!! Hard to believe when one sees the way we talk and behave. It's as if we were back in school, our naughtiness still very evident.

Our next gathering will be much sooner than the next New Year because on of our classmates will be making a transit stop en route back to Sydney where she is residing. It will be a mid-year date this time and we're hoping that more girls will come forward and make the gathering a merry one. After all, it's always been, the more, the merrier.
The gatherings are organised by the KL girls and Mo Tsing emails us of the latest regarding the dates, the venues which are always agreed upon by concensus. Yuet Wah is my faithful friend who always picks me up and sends me back as KL is by now so huge and different that I'm now a Sabahan alien!! (according to her!)
