Rondezvous at ApLeiChau & Aberdeen

Ani’s apartment is in one of three towers in ApLeiChau, a little island off Aberdeen.

The wind was so strong it nearly blew me off my feet as we hastened into the warmth of the lobby. The cold was bearable as I had my woollen cardigan on.

It is a very compact apartment as most private dwelling places are, in land-scarce Hong Kong but the views are fantastic.

After some hot drinks to warm us up, we went down again to look at the grounds.

There is a small old temple where people still worship.

There is also a small garden and basketball court. What is interesting is a secured, enclosed area where people can rent plots to grow vegetables and flowers.

We took a path that led to the place where we could get a boat to cross over to Aberdeen. Along the way there was a little boat with its catch of the day.

We also saw a small houseboat where people actually lived on board.

We took a small boat across to Aberdeen for HKD2.00. However the fumes from the boat were smelly and I had to hold my breath as noxious smells make me nauseous.

From there we took the boat shuttle the Jumbo Restaurant.

The Jumbo Floating Seafood Restaurant is a famous icon in Aberdeen. It even appears on Astro as the background for the spokespeople advertising the most recent cantonese soap series.

There is a magnificent dragon coiled round a pillar at its entrance
and the inside has spectacular wall murals.

Little Ishan loves the steps, climbing up and down.

We returned to Aberdeen for dinner when Ani's significant other finished his day's work at Ocean Park.
