The eclipse occurs when the moon is completely covered by the Earth’s shadow. However small amounts of light passing through our atmosphere causes the moon to have a reddish glow. Hence the term Blood Moon came about.
Blood moons are associated with Biblical prophecies of imminent hard times.
This April 4th Total Lunar Eclipse is the third in
a series of four Total Lunar Eclipses known as the lunar tetrad. The first two occurred on April 15 2014 and
October 8, 2014. The 4th and last
eclipse will occur on September 28, 2015.
The next lunar tetrad of the 21st century will
begin with a total lunar eclipse on April 25, 2032, still a long way in the
future.
So if you’ve missed sighting this one, you can watch out for
the next one on September 28, this year.
